Overlooking Pudget Sound at Pikes Place Market
I put out the call this evening for any home movies made by queer people in the Pacific Northwest. Many of the people in the audience at the 20th Seattle Lesbian & Gay Film Festival where only toddlers when the festival started. So I tried to empower them to start saving their stories now. And if they know of someone older than them, convince those people that their stories are important even if they didn’t make it to Pride parades or protests. The most interesting footage so far has been people’s everyday lives. Also the most rare.
Since I’ll be gone for another two weeks, I brought my spouse Joe so I won’t have a homesickness meltdown in the days ahead. We’ll see if it works. Time to get out the winter jackets for New York and Wisconsin. I am really excited to be screening Reel In The Closet in Rochester, NY next where Kodak was headquartered and where many of these home movies must have been processed.
